Margo Andrea, Artistic Director since 2014, draws from her knowledge of early and modern music, theater, her Armenian heritage and social justice interest to shape LIBE programming and a diverse artist roster. Under her direction, LIBE has increased its outreach to new Long Island communities and has seen significant operating budget increases as well as increased its artist compensation. She has extensive professional experience as an international actress and singer, as a founding member of the Atlantic Theater Co. and a soloist in Philip Glass' and Robert Wilson's "Einstein on the Beach" recorded on Sony Classics and which toured opera houses around the world. She has also been a NYSCA panelist and is very familiar with the budgetary and governance aspects of a not for profit in New York. As a young woman, Margo Andrea had extensive training as a violinist and had won the Dutch Youth Music award. As the first violinist is the concert mistress, she is very familiar with orchestral performance and leading musicians.
